A Late Post ...

oooops ... It's been months since I last posted - in fact this is my first post for 2011 !!! ... sorry Fiona ...
So here are  a set of ceramic tiles I have put together ... the letters all look a little startled !!!

Jenny's October letters

I realise that these are early, but I have been on school holidays for 3 weeks, which was the perfect opportunity for some calligraphy!  The alphabet that I have been making is written on a background that I made earlier and cut up into the correctly sized squares.  I realised recently that for this piece to work, some of my squares were going to have to have more than one letter on them.  It was a bit late to put conventional letters together (i and j, say) so I chose to put t and s together as there was space and I thought the layout would still work.  Unfortunately it puts t before s, really, but I guess no-one will notice in the end, or if they do, it will be one of the imperfections that makes handmade things interesting!

Julie's I through P

I think I am 4 letters behind, so here is I through P. I think that catches me up! Am LOVING all the letters showing up here!!

JGR OCTOBER LETTERS

My letters for October-which is my favorite month. Fall is here, the leaves are turning and the air is chilly. So nice after a long, hot summer.  The first one has a bit of Fall color.

 N is more subtle.
O has a bit of scratchy texture . . .
and P is a revisiting of summer colors, aquas and greens and sea foam texture as if it's hard to let go of summer . . . .
I hope all is well with you, thanks for visiting!

Elaine's J K L M

I have again used painted squares of Tyvek (made from bonded spun polyethylene fibres) and written the letters on them. The unexpected change in the squares and the letters when heat is applied is very exciting. You never know what shape they will take!

Noela's September letters

Hi everyone,
I am thoroughly enjoying all the letters being created - so many brilliant 'out of left field ideas'!! It is wonderful reading snippets of info about all the busy lives out there - we are going crazy with buziness but still find time [eventually] to connect through this small project.
Fiona is working hard to try to find us a venue to exhibit our alphabets and it will be wonderful to eventually see them first hand.
I am sorry I have not made comments for a long time - my computer is not letting me get into comment boxes on most of my blogging buddies - time for a computer maintenace overhaul [next week].
Here are my letters for September and I am preposting October as I will be away at the end of the month.
Cheers to all..........
Noela
..'i' is from a marble wall panel in Starbucks, Barcelona,
'j' is from the bronze doors of Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia Cathedral, Barcelona, [in fact it is one of only 5 polished letters - spelling Jesus...]
'k' is part of the word 'look' painted on the road at every pedestrian crossing in London,
'l' - also from Gaudi's bronze doors.
Letters in book form.
